I do not understand this what-so-ever. Was just discussing this with my Wife last night after I was speaking to our mail carrier who dropped a hint about all the tips she gets. First off, we have many mail errors but even if we did not, I do not understand tipping someone that delivers mail, picks up garbage, delivers the newspaper etc. Where does it end? Do you tip your grocery store clerk? Your attorney? It's all nonsense to me.

the Mailman gets a tip because he never makes a mistake with the mail. also throws in some extra Bed, Bath & beyond coupons when they come
I don't do the garbage guys because I'm not up 6am in the morning to catch them
forgot the newspaper guy on my list, but yeah $25 to him for good service( paper is wrapped when raining ) and i don't have to walk out to pick it up
never heard of someone tipping the grocery store clerk ... and I wouldn't

attorney actually sends us a gift, same with the accountant

Italian pastries or locally made chocolates to all my customers.

Italian pastries to the girl who cuts my hair, the girl who cleans my house (+ an extra paycheck to her), the girl who washes my clothes, and the girls at Cumberland Farms where I fill up my tank every day. They all love that shit.

$20.00 tips to the same two girls at two different Dunkys.

Sicilian pizza to my mechanics and the Eritreans (sweetest girls on the planet) who run a parking lot on the Waterfront where I park (for zero) for a short time each day.

Italian pastries to helpers at Different Post Offices I go to in Boston and guards in buildings I frequent.

Locally made chocolates to the girls at my bread/pizza bakery in the North End.

Italian pastries to the girls who take care of my mom in a dementia unit of a nursing home. Those girls are saints.

Jarred cherry vinegar peppers I grew and preserved myself to my PCP. I also grow her and her support staff veggies I bring them several times in the summer / fall. Yes, I have a hardon for my PCP. Been a seven year chase. Still chasing. Only girl I ever met who I'd give up gambling for. Well, maybe. Nah. Bad idea.

Think I covered everyone. Probably not.

The mailmen earn a great paycheck, good benefits and great retirement. No tips for them. They get compensated handsomely for doing their jobs.

Basically true.... But if you think for one half of a second that a postman working in the city is the same as one in the country, than you are living on the moon. The country boys and girls go the extra mile in all regards!
